Our Values

By Women, For Women

Our women’s adventure travel trips are designed by women, led by women, for women. Her Wild Life trips are the culmination of nearly two decades of travel experience. We’re travel planning pros.

Eco and Sustainable

When we say we’re committed to sustainable ecotourism practices, we mean it. These principles are at the core of everything we do. They’re not just buzzwords to us.

Conservation-Driven

We support local conservation efforts, making a donation on behalf of every Her Wild Life traveler. You can learn more about the projects we support on each expedition’s page.

Supporting Local

From hotels and restaurants to in-destination partners, we choose local businesses committed to empowering their women staff.

Solo Traveler-Friendly

With Her Wild Life, traveling solo comes at no extra cost! Enjoy the luxury of private, single-occupancy accommodations without any additional fees, or choose a discounted double-occupancy rate if you’re traveling with a companion.

Small Groups

When we say small groups, we mean that, too. Group sizes range from 4 to 16, with no more than 8 guests per guide.

Optimal Timing

Our background in field biology helps us to know the best times and places to provide unique experiences. Don’t be surprised if that means going outside peak travel seasons. It’s better for wildlife and extends economic benefits to the communities we visit. The timing of Her Wild Life’s expeditions reflects that expertise.

Empowerment

At Her Wild Life, empowerment is at the heart of what we do. We believe in supporting women at every level—whether it’s through our female-led teams, the local women we partner with, or the women travelers we inspire to explore the world.

Community

Our women’s adventure travel groups build lasting connections, fostering a supportive network of like-minded women passionate about wildlife, united by shared values and experiences.

Collaboration

We believe in the power of collaboration, working together with local communities and partners to create meaningful, impactful travel experiences.

Women’s Wildlife Trips FAQs

How do I find a female travel companion?
With Her Wild Life, you do not need one. Most women on our expeditions arrive not knowing a single other person in the group, and that is the norm rather than the exception. Our groups run from 4 to 8 women per guide, small enough that you know everyone by the first evening. The shared focus on wildlife, a specific migration, a salmon run, a species you have spent years wanting to see, means the group connects around something real before the first morning is over. You come alone. You go home with women who understand exactly what you saw.
Where is the best place for solo female travel?

The best destination for a solo female traveler is the one with the wildlife you have been wanting to see. Her Wild Life currently offers that across nine destinations: Alaska, Yellowstone, Nebraska, New Mexico, Patagonia, Costa Rica, Vancouver Island, and two expeditions in Mexico for the monarch migration and whale sharks. Every departure includes private rooms with no single supplement, ground transfers, and a female wildlife scientist as your guide from the first day to the last.

What is the best country to visit for wildlife?

It depends entirely on what you want to see, and the honest answer is that the best wildlife destination is the one where the specific species or event you care about is at its peak. Her Wild Life’s nine expeditions span some of the most wildlife-rich landscapes in the Americas. For large predators, Alaska and Yellowstone are exceptional: Kodiak brown bears on the salmon run, wolves in the Lamar Valley. For migration spectacles, Mexico and Nebraska are hard to match: half a million sandhill cranes on the Platte River in March, and monarch butterfly overwintering colonies in the oyamel fir forests of Michoacan. For biodiversity, Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula is one of the most species-rich environments in the Western Hemisphere. Every destination we visit is chosen because a specific ecological event makes it extraordinary at that moment.

How can I participate in wildlife conservation?

Traveling with Her Wild Life is one direct way to contribute. A conservation donation is made on behalf of every woman who travels with us, directed to a named partner working in the ecosystem you visit. Beyond financial contribution, responsible wildlife viewing is built into how every woman’s adventure travel expedition operates: approach distances, group behavior, and timing are all guided by field biology to minimize impact on the animals.

What is a conservation trip?
A conservation trip puts ecological impact at the center of the travel experience rather than treating it as an add-on. For Her Wild Life, that means three things in practice. First, itineraries are timed around wildlife behavior and natural cycles, not tourist convenience, so your presence in the field causes minimal disruption and maximum observation. Second, every expedition includes a conservation donation to a named local partner working in that destination. Third, our guides are wildlife scientists and field biologists who apply responsible viewing protocols on every outing.
Why join a women-only travel group?

Because women-only, women-led travel groups change the entire dynamic of how a trip feels and what you get out of it. The guide team is entirely female, which shifts the energy of every field session, every logistics decision, and every evening debrief. Women consistently report feeling genuinely noticed rather than accommodated.

What is the best time of year for wildlife travel?

It depends entirely on what you want to see. Wildlife travel is only meaningful when the timing is right, which is why Her Wild Life plans every departure around the specific ecological event at the heart of each trip. Sandhill cranes peak on the Platte River in mid-March. Kodiak brown bears are on the salmon run in September. Yellowstone is at its best for wolf watching in October. Monarch butterflies peak in the Mexican highlands in January and February. Whale sharks gather off the Yucatan from June to August. The best time to travel is when the wildlife you came for is most active. That is the principle every Her Wild Life itinerary is built on.
